The Simpsons Renewed For Two More Seasons

The Simpsons, the world’s longest running animated tv series has been renewed for a further two seasons, Fox Broadcasting announced on Wednesday.

The EMMY award winning show which has helped launch the careers of the likes of late night talk show host Conan O’Brien who was a writer on the show during the early 1990’s.

The show has featured hundreds of guest stars such as Tony Blair who was British prime minister at the time of recording his episode which saw him greet The Simpsons at the airport on a trip to England.

The series has also visited Ireland when Grandpa and Homer purchased a failed pub from an old landlord played by Irish actor, Colin Meaney.

The show has also had re-occurring guest stars with Frasier star Kelsey Grammar voicing the Sideshow Bob who worked as Krusty The Clown’s side-kick before Bart and Lisa exposed that he had framed Krusty for armed robbery at the Kwik-E-Mart.

The show which spawned a feature length movie ‘The Simpsons Movie’ which was released in 2007 announced last week that Harry Shearer, the voice of African American character Dr. Hibbert has stepped down from the role with Kevin Michael Richardson taking over the role.

Along with Kelsey Grammar, other celebrities who have been on the show include, U2, The Rolling Stones, Brendan Gleeson, Green Day, Tom Hanks, Tom Jones, Lenny Kravitz, 50 Cent, Michael Jackson, Glenn Close, who played Homer’s long lost mother in a number of episodes.

Former racing driver’s Danica Patrick and Jeff Gordan have also lended their voice to show has have Sir Richard Branson and Elon Musk.

Speaking to Deadline, James L.Brooks commented saying:

The renewal will see The Simpsons air new episodes through Season 33 and 34 and will bring the episodes up to 757.
