Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen is the 2021 Formula One world champion following a sensational and dramatic finish to the 2021 Formula One season in Abu Dhabi.
The Dutch driver won the race on the final lap of the race after overtaking Lewis Hamilton as the safety car came in when the five cars that were to lapped by Verstappen were allowed to unlap themselves.
Verstappen lost the lead on the opening lap of the race following a difficult start to the race allowing Hamilton to take the lead. Carlos Sainz came home in third place.
Yuki Tsunoda was fourth just ahead of Pierre Gasly and Valtteri Bottas while Lando Norris was seventh just ahead of Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon. Charles Leclerc ended the race in tenth place.
Sebastian Vettel was eleventh just ahead of Daniel Ricciardo and Lance Stroll while Mick Schumacher was the final runner.
Max Verstappen said that it was unbelievable after claiming victory in the championship. The Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 Team are Constructors champions for a record eighth time.
