IndyCar legend and Formula 1 world champion Mario Andretti has confirmed that his son and NTT IndyCar Series team owner Michael Andretti has applied for entry into the FIA Formula 1 World Championship in 2024.

Mario Andretti tweeted on Friday.

Michael has applied to the FIA to field a new F1 team starting in 2024. His entry, Andretti Global, has the resources and checks every box. He is awaiting the FIA's determination.

Speaking to Paddock Eye last year, Mario Andretti told us that Michael is serious about entering Formula 1.

Andretti attempted to purchase the Alfa Romeo Racing F1 Team but unsuccessful.
