Arrow McLaren SP Chevrolet’s Pato O’Ward says that it’s a new season, a new year, with lots of new opportunities.
Speaking to Paddock Eye on Friday at the Firestone Grand Prix presented by RP Funding says that the team’s main aim is to start the season off on the right foot and to start the season with some good momentum to carry into Long Beach and Texas.
O’Ward said that here in St Pete last year they didn’t have the best race but that he hopes that is a different story this year and that it gives them a result that they can build on going into the season with.
Speaking about his Formula 1 test in Abu Dhabi at the end of last year, O’Ward said it was awesome and that the cars are unbelievable.
They are capable of so much O’Ward said. The cars do everything so well. It’s a childhood dream to get to drive a Formula One car and he feels very lucky to have been able to drive one of the fastest Formula One cars of all time.
O’Ward said that the cars are very different and that the things he learned in F1 wouldn’t necessarily translate in IndyCar it’s just very different.
In terms of his expectations for the race this weekend, O’Ward said that he just wants to start the season well.
