Speaking to The Guardian, Johal revealed that one cast member mimicked her as Apu Nahasapeemapetilon, the Indian character on the hit American animated show The Simpsons who was voiced by American white actor Hank Azaria who, earlier this week publicly apologised for portraying the character on the show for over 30 years.

Johal is not the only actor to come forward from the show to report racism as British actress Nicola Charles, who played Sarah Beaumont claimed this week that cast and crew members attempted to get her deported from Australia.
